We loved our stay at the Marincanto for our honeymoon! Paolo at the desk was so great to us from the moment we walked in to the moment we left. He made fantastic recommendations for both Positano and for Capri since he knew that’s where we were going after.
The hotel itself is gorgeous and so close to everything! They views from our room, the pool, and from the walk down to the beach are absolutely magical. It was so nice to have the private lounge section of the beach right down the stairs. And the breakfast every day was delicious, we honestly still talk about it!
Even after leaving, the hotel staff were so wonderful. We realized we left a few things in our room, which they are shipping them back to us, and have been so easy to work with about it. I highly recommend staying here, it was our favorite stay during our trip.
We loved our stay at Hotel Marincanto. The staff was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and helpful. The rooms were comfortable and had incredible views of Positano. We enjoyed using the pool and the beach - both areas were clean and not too crowded. We also loved eating at the restaurant, Terraza Cele, and the buffet breakfast as well. We ordered room service one morning for breakfast and within minutes they delivered a large sampling of their breakfast items, coffee, juice, and even set the table for us on our balcony. On the day we left, we had to check out very early, and the staff boxed up breakfast pastries, fruit, and bottled water for us to take while we traveled. We would definitely stay here again.
We just finished 6 nights at the Marincanto with my wife and I, and our two year old son. We stayed in the junior suite and the views were incredible.
This hotel checked all the boxes for us. Breakfast in the morning was great. The hotel beach was perfect for us each morning. The steps were never an issue.
The pool was amazing and was bigger than expected.
The best part of this hotel is the staff, they took care of all our needs. We didn’t know where to eat each night and the front desk staff especially Paulo was able to surprise us with reservations each night.
They also were able to arrange babysitting for us two nights and she was wonderful.
Finally when we checked out we realized we forgot a tote bag and they were able to get it to us in Naples the very same day.
It was a great trip and would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to experience Positano.
This place is all about the view, the pool and the beach. Staff were generally good, some were excellent. Vitto at the beach was very helpful and kept the beach area functioning. Towels and linen seemed to be changed daily, which has become a luxury.
While the dated rooms are charming, the beds need to be updated at their current price point. I haven't slept in a bed that small since I was 15.
We stayed in the special junior suite. To be honest, it was nothing special. I would avoid this room, if you're paying a premium for it. The spa bath needs to be fixed or removed from advertising, as a feature of the room. Only half the jets worked and the ones that did spewed black plastic into the tub. It was essentially unusable. When I told reception they said they would get someone to look at it. Housekeeping cleaned the tub, but took no other action to fix it.
Overall, the place has great views and a private beach. That's what you're paying for.
Pros: Great premise and private beach access included. Above average breakfast.
Cons: Would absolutely not advise booking the Economy Double Room. Incredibly small room, loud, with a window facing the staircase. We had to close the window / keep the blinds shut, otherwise any other hotel guests can look or even hop into your room as they proceed down the stairs to the beach. Toilet and sink also have a goofy set up - the toilet was right by / almost under the sink, you couldn’t extend your legs normally and had to turn sideways. If the beach access is a must, please get a hotel elsewhere and simply pay to get access to a beach club.
Furthermore, the hotel royally screwed up our airport transfer (which was arranged a month in advance). We were expected to arrive at 10:45 and our flight landed at 12:00 (due to delays). We notified the hotel beforehand of our delayed flight before we departed - mistake, because as we landed at Naples airport we were notified our transfer had been rescheduled for 1:00 pm. We called the hotel to confirm it was truly 1:00 pm and not 1:05, they assured us it was 1:00 exactly. The transfer didn’t arrive until 1:35 pm. When we called to complain, the hotel mentioned in exact condescending words “we waited for you as well, your flight was delayed 90 minutes. “ To address this (i) our flight was delayed 75 minutes and not like we were responsible for the delay, (ii) we told you at 10:00 am it was delayed as we found out and (iii), I personally would think it’s better to have your taxi driver wait 75 minutes than your tired guests 95 minutes. We had no problem taking a taxi or even paying your driver extra to wait had we known the situation would transpire like this.
We had an okay stay here. I have to stay, the hotel is very nice with beautiful outdoor views of positano. The service was pretty good and they helped arrange a car service for us so we didn’t need to take the bus out. However the rooms were just OK for a nice hotel- the pillows were so uncomfortable and it was not a pleasant sleep. We were on a 3 week vacation visiting 7 different cities and I was a little disappointed in my sleep there. I would give it another chance though as the location is nice - can walk down to the beach (many stairs) and the hotel pool was decent. Balcony with Positano views was just incredible.
Came for a bucket list experience with my wife and had an amazing time. The hotel is beautiful, has wonderful breathtaking views and the staff are very warm and welcoming. This definitely five star quality at a four star price. Breakfast was good, but the dinner we had one night was superb, near Michelin star. Don’t hesitate.. book now!!
Lovely boutique hotel. The views from all over the hotel are something out of a magazine! The pool and restaurant areas are beautiful. Concierge staff was SOOO helpful. The beach access is a huge plus, just be ready for a workout with all of those stairs. ;-)
